Tether Privacy Policy

Tether (“we,” “our,” or “us”) built the Tether app to help you stay connected with the people you’re closest to. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Information We Collect

Information you provide:

Phone number — used to create and verify your account. It is never shown to other users.
Display name and profile photo — shown to users you are connected with.
Photos and posts — content you choose to share with your connections.

Information collected automatically:

Push notification token — used to send you notifications. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

Information from your contacts (optional):

If you grant contacts permission, we send phone numbers from your address book to our servers to find people you know who are already on Tether. Phone numbers are used only for this matching process and are not stored on our servers.

How We Use Your Information

To create and maintain your account
To show your content to people you are connected with
To help you find friends already on Tether
To send you push notifications about activity relevant to you

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties except:

Supabase — our backend infrastructure provider, used to store and serve app data

Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the Settings screen. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, photos, posts, connections, and reactions. Some data may remain in backups for up to 30 days before being purged.

Children’s Privacy

Tether is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by posting the updated policy here.
